MAHA: DISS told to stock oxygen 3 times more than the need

Nashik / Pune: State and district authorities are planning a plan to deal with possible third covid waves and ensure the availability of oxygen three times more than what is needed during the second wave peak.
Head of Secretary of Maharashtra Sitaram Kunte on Monday held a meeting with the district collectors and city commissioners from all states about preparing the district oxygen management plan.
“Each district collector is expected to prepare an oxygen management plan given the maximum number of patients in the second wave as the base and then ensure the availability of oxygen three times the requirements at the peak,” Kunte said.
The district oxygen management plan will include oxygen production in the district and storage facilities.
The authorities have been told to store oxygen in the district and sub-district hospitals, or with producers.
Kunte said the district authorities had to submit a plan about where oxygen would be saved and also arranged a plan with all agents for stored oxygen transportation.
All facilities must be at the place in July, he added.
After the meeting, Pune District collector Pune Rajesh Deshmukh said he would prepare the district oxygen plan and submit it as early as possible the authorities in Pune would assess the days where cases had peaked during the second wave in Pune and prepared oxygen supply to meet peak requirements.
“We have been in full preparation by assigning swing absorption factories, liquid oxygen factories and oxygen storage cylinders in various parts of the district,” he said.
“I will look for details from the city commissioner and immediately submit a plan to the main secretary,” he added.
Commissioner Municipal Nashik Kailas Jadhav, who is a member of the District Disaster Management Authority, said the active case during the peak in the third wave that might determine the number of cases during the second wave peak.
