MUMBAI: A premature infant born Palghar on Monday examined positive for Covid 12 hours following arrival while the mother tested negative.
This may be the first instance of a toddler testing positive for the virus from the lengthy Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) beyond the metropolis.
Back in Mumbai, there have been many cases of newborns testing certain hours following arrival.

The infant tested positive, however the mom’s test returned negative.
The hospital educated officials and changed the infant to Government Cottage hospital at Jawhar.
Medical Superintendent Dr Ramdas Marad reported the infant was admitted to this neo-natal ICU and can be steady.
The dad’s samples also have been accepted for testing.

Even the World Health Organisation had stated in February that although many neonates born to infected women test negative, 1 inspection had found that 1.9percent of neonates tested positive in 24 hours or more.
In BYL Nair Hospital at Mumbai Central, a center for Covid-positive pregnant ladies, over 1,000 deliveries had happened since last year.
In 2020there have been 761 births of that 37 infants were found favorable.
In 2021, of 202 births, nine infants were found favorable.
The clinic comes with an Rt-PCR of their child after arrival.
“We do not understand how they get infected just as vertical transmission from mother to child is being researched.
Infants can contract the disease after arrival through pollution,” explained Dr Sushma Malik, head of neonatology in Nair.
A senior physician said infants could get infected via contamination at the labor area or while being treated.
Nair is Part of a research using the National Institute of Research in Reproductive Health to comprehend infection in adolescents.
A scientist stated there’s evidence of vertical transmission, however, it does not happen often.
Concerning the Palghar instance, Dr Malik said that there was a chance that the mom has been’false negative’.
