Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has asked its employees to use Tongle offices for communication regarding office work if possible and to reduce cellphone use.
The General Administration Department has issued a detailed guideline for telephone etiquette to be attended by government staff while in the office.
Guidelines say that staff must use SMS as a way of communication for official work and they must remain short.
The guidelines have come when charges against illegal tapping of mobile journalists and opposition leaders are being made.
The use of language is polite when talking on a cellphone and does not use language that is not released when talking on the phone has been listed in the guidelines too.
“It has been seen that the protocol was repeatedly not followed by officers while speaking on the telephone that damaged the government’s image,” said command.
Furthermore, employees have been asked to focus on time and language while using social media for office use.
In addition, it has been instructed that officials / employees respond immediately by calling a senior representative / officer when busy with other calls.
The Maharashtra government has been, a few months ago, issued a guideline on office clothing for his employees too.
The state government has asked its employees not to wear casual clothes such as T-shirts or sandals to work.
