Thane: The state has announced a monetary prize from Rs 51 Lakh to the police and security personnel involved in a Saturday meeting that killed 26 Maoists in the Gadchiroli district, Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Monday.
Shinde who was in Gadchiroli on Monday said police forces showed the courage that was exemplary in tracking and eliminating Maoists in their fortresses.
“Access to the area where their Hol-up is not easily accessible.
Our police must strip several kilometers in a dangerous area to hunt Maois,” Shinde said.
Shinde added that despite suffering injuries, troops continued to be involved in the war against Maois and managed to kill 26 of them including the main Teltumde Millind Farming.
The police also recovered the large cache of the arms and ammunition from Maois.
“As a sign of attempt and dedication of the police, we have decided to appreciate that power.
I have spoken with the district collector to make a 51 lakh rupee allocation of the district planning funds and the same thing will be presented to the Gadchiroli police soon,” Shinde said through a statement pers.
