Mumbai: After announcing the steps of welfare for Covid orphans, the Maharashtra government has launched a special initiative to provide assistance to women who lose their husbands because of Covid.
The Minister of Development of Women and Children (WCD) Yashomati Thakur said, “The department will unite 18 schemes and services will be given to these widows under one roof.” According to the estimated introduction there are more than 15,000 women who have lost their husbands to Covid-19 since March 2020 and to help them, ‘Mission Vatsalya’ has been launched.
It will focus on widows from rural areas and backgrounds that lack.
Officials from the Department, Children’s Development Officers and Wisdom Workers have begun to reach these women and so far, have reached 10,500 women.
