Maha has given a VAX shot up to 85% of 45 years + POPN

Mumbai: More than 85% of people over 45 years have received at least one vaccine shot against Covid-19 in Maharashtra.
Nearly 39% of the country’s population that eligible for vaccination (9.1 crore) comes from this age category.
According to recent data shared by the State Health Department, nearly 2.9 crore people from 3.5 crores in this age group have taken at least one vaccine shot.
In all age groups, more than 84% of people have taken at least one shot in the state.
Vaccination in the age group above 45 years has made a dent in covid hospitalization and death and can continue to do so even in the face of a new variant, experts said.
“More than 80% of Covid-19 deaths have been seen in people over 45 years.
With comorbidity, they have become the most vulnerable,” Dr Avinash Supe, who heads Covid City’s death audit committee.
But when vaccination begins for the general population in March and April, a gradual decline in death is recorded, said Supe.
Death analysis has recently shown that deaths often occur in people who are not vaccinated or those who do not develop a good response to vaccination, intensive words from BYL Nair Hospital.
“We record death every two to three days and they are rare among vaccinated individuals,” said the doctor.
“Omicron may have the nature of the wealth, but the vaccine is still expected to prevent hospitalization and death,” he said.
The results of the third wave, if it comes, can be very dependent on the vulnerable population vaccine coverage.
Dr.
Pradeep kicked, the State Surveillance Officer, said that from the 40 omicron cases, almost all adults were fully implemented except two.
“One reason why we haven’t seen the severity because they are all vaccinated,” he said, adding that some even took a booster shot.
In addition, Omicron cohort covers people between 40-60 years.
In Mumbai, civil authorities said nearly 20 lakh people were between 45 and 59 years and 11 lakh outside 60 years had taken one shot.
More than 100% of single dose coverage has been achieved in this age group, a citizenship official said.
As many as 12.7 doses of crore vaccines have been given in the state, where 7.9 crore is the first dose and 4.8 crore is the second dose.
From the age group 18-44, almost 77% had taken one shot.
The state has been fully immunized around 52% of the adult population.
