Mumbai: Maharashtra reported 1,736 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, the lowest daily count in almost 17 months, and 36 new deaths, took infection calculations to 65.79,608 and the toll became 1,39,578, a health department official said.
Maharashtra witnessed a decline of more than 550 cases, but noted an uptick in death compared to Sunday, when reporting 2,294 new Covid-19 cases and 28 deaths.
At 1.736, the country has recorded the lowest daily since 16 May 2020, when 1,606 cases of new coronavirus were reported, but the calculation appeared behind only one lakh test.
Usually, testing drops during the weekend and Maharashtra also looked at the closure on Monday.
The official said 3,033 patients were dismissed from the hospital in the last 24 hours, pushing the count of the restored case to 64.04,320.
Maharashtra now has 32,115 coronavirus patients in care.
The state has 2,38,474 people in quarantine houses and 1,163 others in institutional quarantine, he said.
The official said the recovery rate of Covid-19 Maharashtra was at 97.34 percent, while the death rate was 2.12 percent.
The cumulative number of Coronavirus tests conducted in the country rose to 6.03.03,740 after 1.05,567 samples were examined in the last 24 hours, he said.
As many as 15 districts and five city companies did not report a new Covid-19 case, according to the official.
Among the districts, Mumbai reported the highest new infection in 401, he said.
Among the eight areas of Maharashtra, the Mumbai region reported the Covid-19 new 731 case, followed by 482 from the Pune region.
The Nashik region reported 359 new cases, Kolhapur 81, Latur 63, Aurangabad 14, while three infections were respected in the Akola and Nagpur regions, he said.
According to officials, among the 36 new deaths, 18 highs of deaths were reported from the Pune region, followed by 10 deaths from the Nashik region.
The Mumbai region reported five deaths, the Latur and Kolhapur region.
Significantly, Aurangabad, Akola and the Nagpur region did not report new deaths.
The official said Mumbai watched 401 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths, while Pune City reported 85 infections, but no new death.
Among 32,115 active cases in the state, the Pune district has the highest at 8,465, he said.
The official said among 64.04.320 cases restored in all states, the highest 11.19,884 came from Pune District.
