Pune / Mumbai: From 51% to 60% of samples sent from six state districts for the fourth National Sero Survey having Covid-19 antibodies in it, disclosing data even when the state continues to report a decrease in new coronavirus infection on Saturday.
Although there was a decrease in new case detection to 6,269, there was also an increase in deaths that suddenly became 224, the highest in 23 days.
Sero survey was conducted with samples taken from general public workers and health care from Beed, Parbhani, Nanded, Sangli, Ahmednagar and Jalgaon.
Samples were sent to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), where experts say that the results show that at least half of the population in most of the districts may now have immunity to SARS-COV-2.
The rest remains vulnerable to the virus.
The seropocity level of six districts is still lower than the results of the National Serosurvey that was announced recently, which showed that 67.7% of the Indian general population had antibodies against Coronavirus.
Compared to the general population, data from six districts showed the presence of higher antibodies among health workers at 73% -91%.
Dr.
Samiran Panda, Senior Scientist and Head of the Epidemiology Division and Infectious Disease ICMR, said: “This is the only district of Maharashtra from which the sample was taken for Serosurvey fourth India.
The district cannot be used to represent trends for all Maharashtra, but they help provide National trends.
“More than 400 serum samples from the general population of each district were sent to ICMR for testing.
Beed has the lowest seropocity (42.2%) among citizens.
Parbhani and Nanded have the highest (60%).
As for health workers, each district has sent more than 100 samples for analysis.
Health care workers in Beed, once again, showed the lowest seropositivity (73.1%).
The highest presence of antibodies is among health staff in Ahmednagar (91.1%).
Maharashtra Kasel rose to 62.58 lakh and the death toll became 1,31,429.
So far this month, the country has reported more than 200 deaths just three times.
According to the Covid-19 bulletin, the Raigad district reported 53 deaths, the highest in the state.
After two days of reporting under 400 cases, Mumbai added 410 cases on Saturday and the fatality continued to be in one digit.
Active cases down to 10,000 at 8,313.
The kasel is 7.3 lakh and the 15,827 toll road.
