Mumbai: Maharashtra reports a slight increase in Daily Covid case detection, while Mumbai, for the second day in a row, registering more than 300 cases.
The state added 6,695 cases and 120 deaths on Thursday, took the overall case to 63.3 lakh, including 2,231 ‘old’ cases added to the cumulative calculation as part of reconciliation exercises, and total deaths to 1,33,530.
With a steady decline in the second wave, the city recorded 327 fresh cases and nine deaths on Thursday.
“Our goal must now be zero death.
That is the target to be achieved before saying we are getting better,” said Dr.
Shashank Joshi, who is a member of the state government task force in Covid-19.
With this, the total case in the city touched 7.3 lakh and the total death rose to 15,929.
Joshi said despite high testing (34,145 tests), low detection.
“The decline in covid waves is clear, but we must remember that Covid has not been lost.
With cases that rise in neighboring countries, we must be vigilant for two months, especially because the festival season will begin next month,” he added.
The effect of easing restrictions must be seen in two weeks.
“But if we observe the appropriate behavior of covid and increase vaccination, one or two months can be peaceful,” he added.
State government officials also said that with relaxation easing, people had begun to move bigger and become health officials have been asked to increase testing and implementation of covid behavior such as wearing masks and avoiding the crowd.
