Mumbai: The number of Covid-19 cases detected in Maharashtra has increased slightly after reaching a 17-month low on Monday.
On Tuesday, the state counted 2,069 cases and 43 deaths, took the total Caseload to 65.8 lakh and the death toll became 1.4 lakh since the arrival of Coronavirus novel in March last year.
Cases in Mumbai continued to circle around 400 for the second day in a row, mainly because of less than 35,000-plus tests carried out.
On Tuesday, the city reported 418 cases and two deaths, took the total case of up to almost 7.5 lakh and the death toll until 16,164.
BMC officials said that even though the Mumbai region was the highest contributor to the state calculation – the months of Pune registered Covid cases than Mumbai – there was no reason to worry about.
“We cannot deny that cases have increased compared to the period when there is a tighter limit.

“F-North (Matunga), D (Malabar Hill), E (Byculla), HW (Bandra) and Ward (Colaba) are closely monitored, but the increase in this case is not great,” he said.
Meanwhile, active cases in the country fell to 30,525, but rose in the city to 5,985.
The health department official said clearly the second wave receded, but the possibility of cases could rise again after the celebration season.
