Mumbai: The state government has announced a special focus immunization drive for students who qualify throughout the campus.
Drive, Mission Yuva Swastth Abhiya, together organized by the Ministry of Health and the Department of Higher Education and Technical, will be conducted between October 25 and November 2, shortly before Diwali set.
On Thursday, Health Minister Rajesh Tope said there were around 5,000.
Universities under the Department include Polytechnic, Itís, Professional Colleges and other affiliate institutions and covering nearly 40 Lakh students aged over 18 years.
“We have asked all school principals to list students who have not been vaccinated.
The health department in turn will make doses available for drives,” Tope said.
This is a second special drive organized by the state; Previously, the state had organized Mission Kavach Kundal to vaccinate 15 lakh people every day before Dussehra, but only reached 50% of its target.
Drive students are also open to dropouts that can go to the nearest college.
“I will ask the Minister of Chief to allow students to take the train, but he will take the final decision,” Tope Toi said.
“There are no students who are allowed to come to college if they are not fully vaccinated,” said Uday Samant, the Minister of Higher Education and Technical, at the conference.
Tope said they would provide universities with medical equipment, ambulance, medical staff and vaccines.
“After the drive is finished, we will falitasi three colleges who do the best,” he said.
