Maha to hear Hazare’s view of wine policy: pawar

Pune: Deputy Chief of Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday said the state government will continue with wine policy only after consultation with citizens, following expanded opposition and social activist Anna Hazare threatened to do Mogin from Monday.
He said the state government would seek suggestions and objections to the proposed wine policies and publish them on the website, just like what was done in the case of Shakti bills.
“The State Government has not reached the final decision on wine policy.
We will invite suggestions and objections, which will be heard.
Only then the final decision will be taken,” said Pawar Ajit after meeting the Covid review of Pune.
Deputy Minister of Chief said the main Secretary of Valsa Nair Singh had gone to meet Hazare on Saturday with a government letter, stating that the decision was not a final and widespread consultation would be held before completing the wine policy.
“I have assigned the main secretary to meet Anna Hazare and hear her point of view to find a solution because she has threatened to strike,” he said, adding that the Interior Minister Dilip Walse Patil also met with social activists.
After a three-hour meeting with the main Secretary, Excise, Valsa Nair Nair Singh, Hazare said that he was partly convinced about the government’s proposed public consultation and would make decisions about fasting on Sunday after the Sabha gram.
Hazare has sent a letter on February 3 to the state government against wine policy.
After not receiving a response, he had announced to go on a hunger strike from February 14 at Ralegaon Siddhi.
