Nashik: Minister of Food and Civil Equipment State Chhagan Bhujbal on Saturday announced free food, pulses and kerosene for people in all districts affected by flooding with direct effects, adding that assistance will continue until the order further.
The state will also provide Shiv Bhojan Thali (subsidized food) for free for everyone who has been moved until the same order is canceled.
“Food can be cooked elsewhere – if there is an affected center – and distributed with the help of government authorities,” added Bhujbal.
Bhujbal told reporters in Nashik on Saturday that each family affected by the flood will be given 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of wheat, 5 kg pulses and 5 liters of kerosene with direct effects in Kolhapur, Satara, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg Regency.
“The family has lost everything to flood.
After having a word with the chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray, the department has decided to help people during their difficulties.
Ransum will soon be provided,” Bhujbal said.
Bhujbal added that in the Concendary area, people will be given additional 10kg rice if they don’t want wheat.
Inventory will be provided through an ordinary ration shop – a fair price shop.
In the case of the Dal tour, local regional collectors have been ordered to get the same thing from the market from funds under disaster management.
It is estimated that 85,000 people have been transferred and therefore the requirements incidentally pegged at around 500 tons.
Grains will be lifted from the Food Corporation of India Godown in each district.
The Gramsevak team, Krishi Sahayak and Talathi together for each village will identify the family affected, register their information and provide assistance in the form of food grains.
“The work of identifying such beneficiaries has just begun and it takes two days to get a number,” Kolhapur District Supply Officer said.
