Maha vaccination will take years at the current level

Mumbai: The state must vaccinate more than 10 lakh people every day if they want to fully immunize the adult population in December, TOI analysis has been found.
But the central supply, which has been disproportionate with the demand of the state until now, will never be enough to fulfill that purpose, experts say, which recommends a stronger encouragement for private participation.
At the current level, vaccination of all countries will take between 11 months and more than a year.
Maharashtra has an adult population of 9.58 crores, which means the country requires 19.16 crore vaccines to fully analyzen all.
Until now, he has provided 5.71 crore doses, and requires more than 13 doses of crore.
The state is usually allocated between 1.15 crores and 1.2 crore doses by the center every month.
Although in September, Maharashtra has convinced a little dose of more 1.7 crores, it won’t bring things anywhere close to fully vaccinate half of the population.
The procurement of direct vaccines from producers is not an option for the government, the Minister of Health Public Rajesh Tope to the TOI on Sunday, even though the production capacity of vaccine producers may increase.
“We cannot directly buy vaccines because the dosage is committed to the center.
In the past too, we have floated global tenders, but we cannot buy vaccines,” he said, acknowledging that the quota given to state would not be enough to meet the December target.
In a limited window that countries were provided in May and the first week of June to buy their own vaccine, Maharashtra had ordered only 25.1 doses of lakh.
At least six countries have ordered more doses than Maharashtra.
For example, buy the highest number of doses at 67.33 lakh.
Bihar bought 44.39 lakh, MP bought 32 doses of lakh and rajasthan, more than 30 doses of lakh.
Asked why Maharashtra could not buy in a higher number considering the population, Tope said the inventory was limited and the company could not provide a clear supply timeline.
The minister said the company’s social responsibility route (CSR) was open and was being explored.
He quoted the example of Risod Taluka in Akola, vaccination venues have been supported by Ajanta Pharma.
Mumbai, who led in exploring CSR initiatives, did not have a very enthusiastic response after the initial buzz.
Support City Commissioner Suresh Kakani said the city got 6 doses of lakh through CSR.
“Calls and questions have dried up now,” he said.
