Ahmednagar: A total of 10 Covid-19 patients died and seven others were injured after a fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) from Ahmednagar’s civil hospital on Saturday.
Deputy Director of the State Health Department, Nashik Region, PB Gandal said that of seven injured patients, two conditions were very important, while the condition of the five remaining patients was stable.
Gandal was on his way to Ahmednagar from Nashik after the incident.
Minister of Guard Guard Hasan Mushrif is also on his way to Ahmednagar.
Minister of Maharashtra Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered an investigation into the fire incident.
The main minister also expressed condolences for the incident.
After the incident, Thackeray spoke with the Minister of Guard Guard Hasan Mushrif and Secretary Chief Situam Kunte and asked them to ensure that the victims would not face problems in getting treatment.
The health department’s sources say that there are two ICU wings in Ahmednagar’s civil hospital.
One on the first floor and the second on the ground floor where the fire broke out.
The 17 patients were treated on the ground floor of the hospital.
The health department’s sources suspect short circuit as an excuse behind the fire.
The fire tender rushed to the place immediately after being told about fire and the fire has now been controlled.
The authority of civil hospitals is in the process of ensuring the identifier of death and those who are injured.
Meanwhile, the former Head of Maharashtra Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis demanded that in-depth investigations be carried out and strict actions against all responsible people.
“The news was very surprising and disturbing from Nagar.
My deepest condolences to families who lost their loved ones at a civil hospital in the ICU fire incident.
Pray for a quick recovery from the wounded,” Fadnis tweeted.
