Aurangabad: Cyber crime police have arrested two young men on charges of online abuse and stalking a woman.
Police officer Gautam Patare said the woman was married and had a child, but she was separated from her husband.
“Last year, one of the defendants was friends with the woman and proposed a marriage, but he refused.
The suspect, however, continued to disturb the woman to accept his proposal,” he said.
“Angry with a constant rejection, the defendant allegedly began to put the photos of the woman as his status on PlateFrom Online and claimed that he was his wife.
The woman asked the defendant to stop his antics, but was in vain.
The defendant stepped forward and began making a false claim Similar to other social media platforms too, “he added.
At the same time, the other suspect also used a woman’s photo from the man’s profile and shared it through social media accounts, causing a manager to the woman.
He finally reached out to the Cyber Crime Police Station and filed complaints of complaints, violations to follow under the relevant sections of the technology law and registered technology.
The duo was arrested on Tuesday.
