Mumbai: Water stock in seven lake that supplies to the city crossing a sign of 10 million liters on Wednesday.
This is 70% of the required stock.
The lake needs to have more than 14 lakh million liters of water at the end of the season.
Stock now must last 263 days.
In related development, increased rainfish activities in Mumbai and Thane have been indicated for 30 and July 31.
BMC officials have clarified that there were no water cuts to be imposed in the city this year.
20% water has been put in place in city cuts in August last year due to low water storage levels on the lake.
The total quantum water in seven lakes has passed 50%.
On Wednesday, it reached 10.13 lakh million liters (70.05%) compared to 4.37 lakh million liters on the same day last year (32.69%).
So far, four lakes – Tulsi, Vihar, Tansya and Modan Sagar – have overflowed.
In all these lakes, stock water is 100% except in the case of tansa where stock is at 99%.
In the estimated issued for the next five days, the meeting department on Wednesday showed heavy rain in isolated places on July 30 and July 31 for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad.
The ‘yellow’ warning has been shown for July 30-31 while the ‘green’ warning has been issued for August 1, showing light to moderate ‘rainfall’.
On Wednesday, in the nine hours ended 5.30 in the afternoon the Met’s Colaba Observatory recorded 4.6 mm rainfall and the Santacruz Observatory recorded 2.2 mm – both were classified as ‘light’.
