Maharashtra: 85 turtles found dead in Lake Gauripada in Kalyan

Kalyan: About 85 turtles were found dead in Lake Gauripada in Kalyan on Saturday.
Local residents see dead turtles and notify the Ministry of Forestry team.
With the help of animal lovers, the forest dept officials saved 8 turtles living on Saturday night.
Local residents claimed that since Friday they saw dying turtles.
However, on Saturday when they found a large amount of dead turtles floating on the edge of the lake, they told the local EX-BJP Corporator Gaikwad who told the forest team.
The forest team reached on a place on Saturday night and saved 8 turtles alive from the lake and found around 85 of them died.
A forest officer told Tii, “to find out the exact cause of the turtle death, we have told the Maharashtra pollution control board officials to get a sample of water tested to find whether it was polluted or there was another reason behind the death of turtle”.
