Mumbai: About 45 Lakh Commuter is expected to use the local train from August 15 when citizens who are fully vaccinated will be permitted with important workers.
The load is around 55% of the pre-locking driver number.
At present, 28 lakh passengers run on the suburban system, including 13 lakh on the western train and 15 lakh on the central train line.
Before the kuncian, there were 80 lakh commuters, including 35 lakh on WR and 45 lakh at Cr.
In Mumbai, around 22 lakh people were fully vaccinated and had completed 14 days after the second dose.
“However, the estimated BMC is only 13 lakh that can ride the train because some still work from home or choose road transportation.
Likewise, from the MMR area such as Thane, Navi Mumbai, Mira-Bhayander and other satellite cities, no more than 7 lakh will take the train, “said a senior CR official.
Based on the expectations of the citizenship authorities, the train estimates around 20 lakh more tourists since August 15, taking total passengers every day to around 45 lakh per day to start.
The numbers will grow gradually because more passengers are vaccinated.
Well WR and CR say they have made all preparations to ensure that the system can handle additional loads.
CR said across 75 stations on the main route, port, Transharbour and Seawood-Laktur-Uran, 341 counter bookings will remain open due to 300.
WR said 276 counters would remain open to 149 in 38 stations between the Church and Dahanu.
When the service opened after the first lock during the first wave, the carrying capacity was pegged at 700 per train, but in fact more than 3,000 people used to travel during rush hour.
“From August 15, the crowd will be substantial and will absurd to expect social distance to be maintained,” said a Senior Cr official, which shows that inoculation and mask will be the main protection for passengers.
At present, WR and CR run 1,300 and 1,686 services each against 1,367 and 1,774 services, at pre-covid time, commuters say the train must use the Jansadharan (JTBS) ticket booking agent to reduce the load on the bookcon counter.
“This system can be set to ensure that JTBS agents only issue monthly season tickets to commuters after they show a verified vaccine certificate by BMC,” said Kurla Resident Rajesh Nair.
Shyam Rawal, another commuter from Mira Road, said: “This new system is just abuse.
There is no limit to traveling with the best bus.
Why does such rules apply to trains, which is a Mumbai lifeline?”
