Maharashtra: Ambergris worth Rs 1 Crore confiscated from 2 people in Thane

Thane: Ambergris, commonly called Pope vomiting or yellow gray, worth RS 1 Crore was confiscated from two people at the Ghodbunder Road in Thane City, police said on Saturday.
Acting on Tip, Sushant Behra (32), a property agent from Cuttack in Odisha, and Manoj Sharma (40) of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, held on Friday night with Ambergris worth Rs 1 Crore, said Senior Inspector Anil Honrao Property Sel Property Thane Police .
Cases in the Wildlife Protection Act and IPC provisions have been registered on a rough computer, he added.
Ambergris, created by sperm pope gallways, is often called “Floating Gold” because a very large price is taken in the international market for its use in luxurious perfume.
Pope sperm is a protected species under schedule 2 of the wildlife protection law in India.
