Mumbai: CET Cell Counts receive a little more than four lakh applications for MHT-CET this year for reception to engineering, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural related courses.
The numbers have dropped from Lakh 5.3 years ago.
While some branches of engineering failed to attract candidates in the past, pandemics might trigger a decline interest, the academic said.
“We get a large number of letters from our existing students asking permission to pay fees with installments.
People lose their jobs, or their business covered with pandemic.
The more difficult for many people to pay for school fees.
Also, with the University offer alternative BSC courses In it and computer science, which is much cheaper than techniques, families tend to choose them, “said the Principal of the Thadomal Shahani College of Engineering GT Thampi.
He said that there were fewer placement opportunities in the manufacturing and civilian sector, and therefore, students naturally would not want to invest much in these courses.
While 4.04 Lakh applications are accepted, the number can increase several thousand after several students confirm the registration.
