Maharashtra: BJP wins big in MLC polls, double whammy for MVA in Vidarbha

Nagpur: Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered the first major setback in Vidarbha since forming a government in Maharashtra in 2019.
The Nagpur and Akola-Buldhana-Washim seat by destroying margins in the basic election of the MLC local authority poll.

MVA was supported by Mangesh Independent Deshmukh received 186 votes, while five were declared invalid.
Former Congress Candidate Ravindra Bhoyar, who was brought from BJP, managed to get only one voice.
On Friday, Bhoyar had told the Toi that he called the party line and chose Deshmukh.
The Devendra Fadnivis opposition leader praised the twin victory Bawansule and Khandewal stated that it was a ‘tight slap’ on the face of MVA partners.
“Both of these wins special.
This is the result of the hard work of every approach, with this victory by a big margin, once again, BJP has proven his courage in this MLC election,” he tweeted.
Fadnavis is in town to greet Bawankule and join party workers in the celebration.
“Political arithmetic does not mean that the three MVAs gather to secure victory.
In fact, this is political chemistry that works for us,” he told the media.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Nana Patole blamed BJP for “Horse Trade” in a poll to secure victory.
“They use undemocratic tactics to win polls which are their modus operandi.
However, we welcome the people’s mandate,” he said.
Bawankule, MLA three times rejected tickets for the 2019 Assembly poll, thanked the central parliamentary council and state to overcome the faith to him.
“It was indeed a big victory and I thank the leaders and workers, who supported me.
