Mumbai: Even because uncertainty continues above the reopening of schools in the state, the pediatric task force on Sunday presented a list of standard operating procedures (SOP) which will be followed if the physical school must be continued.
In the virtual presentation organized by the Covid Task Force of the State and State Government, Dr.
Suhas Prabhu, Chair of the pediatric task force, said that despite the protocols that have been recommended from staggering school hours, school days, lunch time and distance themselves All sports contacts should be avoided.
Also, children from the detention zone should not be sent to school.
“The new procedure has been withdrawn to ensure parents who might worry that their children will contract infections in school and, in turn, infect the entire family,” said Dr.
Prabhu, speaking at the Virtual Seminar ‘Majha Doctor’.
He said that by reopening the playground and school, the possibility of infection in the lower age group 18 will be spiral due to increased exposure and lack of vaccination in this category.
“But that doesn’t mean we can save it at home all time.
This will lead to other psychological problems among them.
The only way to keep them safe is covering, maintaining social distance and sanititis,” said Dr.
Prabhu.
He said the teacher must be advised to take care of psychological health of students and in the first few days of schools that are reopened, focus should not only be in academics.
“The teacher must be aware of a different background, the students come from.
Some may lose family members to Covid, some parents may have been unemployed.
Dealing with children in a sensitive way will be needed,” he said.
The task force also suggests to regulate health clinics run by trained school staff or volunteers with basic facilities such as thermometre, oximetre, and medicines; And if a student is reported to be sick, the child must be referred to the nearest special center.
