Mumbai: After one and a half years into the pandemic, universities in Maharashtra will open from October 20th.
State Education Minister of higher and technical Uday Samant announced on Wednesday.
Students must be fully vaccinated before attending physical classes, Samant said.
The final decision will be taken by the university authorities in consultation with local businesses and county authorities.
If the college will begin in Mumbai, the department will ask the railways to give permission.
The state also has decided to reopen the hostel in phase.
The state will provide a standard operating procedure (SOP), but the university can make its own SOP with the help of local government agencies.
“Students should be fully vaccinated before coming to class.
If they are not vaccinated, universities can hold a camp for the same thing,” said Samant.
In areas that have a higher number of cases, local corporate government may delay the reopening, he said.
He added that the state will ask the railways to enable local train travel for students if local authorities decided to reopen the school in Mumbai.
Online classes will continue for students who can not physically attend classes.
The state is the norm in the phase locking relaxed because there is a steady decline in cases Covid.
