Maharashtra: Death toll at Ulhasnagar slab Meltdown incident Increases to 7

THANE: The death toll at the slabs meltdown episode which happened in a construction in Ulhasnagar city of Maharashtra’s Thane district climbed to seven using the retrieval of a body, an official said on Saturday.
Thane district protector minister Ekanth Shinde said the state government could offer financial help of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of every dead person, who comprise three girls and one teenaged boy.
The slabs of five apartments in Sai Shakti construction, also a ground-plus-five-storey structure situated at Nehru Chowk, fell on Friday night.
According to the data given by the government late each night, six people had died in the event and four to five individuals were feared trapped under the debris.
“With the healing of a body by the debris, the fatality count from the episode has gone up to seven.
Three girls, as most variety of guys and one boy died from the accident,” Santosh Kadam, leader of the regional crisis management cell of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) mentioned.
The deceased belonged to 2 households living in the construction, ” he explained.
There were 29 apartments within this 26-year-old construction, Kadam stated.
“About 9pm, the drawing area slabs of five apartments – directly from the top ground upward into the base 1 – caved in.
On being alarmed, the employees of the RDMC along with also the Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) hurried to the scene and started a search and rescue operation,” he explained.

Minister Ekanth Shinde hurried to the area to take inventory of this circumstance.

“The state government might provide Rs 5 lakh to the kin of every dead person,” he explained, adding that this is actually the second such event in the region in the recent years.
“Back in 1994-95, the community civic body had demolished a number of those unauthorised buildings by yanking their slabs, columns and sticks.
But, it’s been discovered that some programmers welded the iron sticks, recast the bottoms and rebuilt the buildings.
Such arrangements are currently crashing down and promising innocent lives,” he explained.
He led Ulhasnagar civil commissioner Raja Dayanidi to change the occupants of these precarious structures to safer areas to get a war footing and initiate rigorous action against such contractors.
