New Delhi: Maharashtra DGP Sanjay Pande and Chief Secretary of Sitaram Kunte have been summoned by the CBI in connection with a corruption investigation into former Minister of Anil Deshmukh, officials said on Thursday.
Even though the agency remained closed, officials said senior officers had been asked to respond to several questions related to the probe.
The CBI has ordered Deshmukh and some other unknown people under the IPC section related to the criminal conspiracy and prevention of corruption actions for “efforts to benefit inappropriate and dishonest public performance.” The accusation against Deshmukh has emerged after the elimination of the Police Commissioner Mumbai Param Bir Singh.
He was removed after the role of the police Waze Sachin appeared in the case of recovery of the explosion-loaded SUV parked outside the residence of Industrialis Mukesh Ambani.
Waze was arrested by Nia.
In his letter to the Chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray, after his transfer, Singh accused Deshmukh has asked Waze to squeeze more than RS 100 Crore a month from Mumbai bars and restaurants, they said.
The FIR accused Deshmukh “and others” carry out undue influence on transfers and post officials and thus use undue influence on the performance of public tasks by them.
