Mumbai: Lull in the Covid-19 pandemic is clearly visible with the weekly growth rate fell to 0.04% and daily detection and death in the state and the city declined.
The state added 1,129 deaths this month compared to 1,754 deaths last month.
It added 1,130 cases and 26 deaths on Saturday, taking the total Caseload to 66.09 lakh and tolls to 1,40,196 since the infection outbreak in March last year.
The city recorded 301 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths.
The decrease in the weekly growth rate of the novel Coronavirus infection to 0.04% was the first time dipped so low after August.
The weekly growth rate has risen to 0.06% after a slight surge in the number of Covid-19 cases after restrictions on train services take place.
“October has become one of the better months in Covid’s pandemic so far,” said the additional Commissioner of BMC Suresh Kakani.
“The case fatality rate is below 1 for the most part this month.” The only other month where the lower case fatality rate was February and March amounted to 0.7% and 0.36% respectively.
Although more deaths were recorded on the week ended Saturday than the previous week, Kakani said that daily tariff fluctuations could occur.
Even at the state level, October has become a rather good month, with the state reported the number of Covid-19 cases this year’s lowest.
The state added 58,750 Covid-19 cases this month compared to the case of 1.06 lakh which was added in September.
“There are at least 20 districts in the state that have less than 100 active cases and add new cases in one digit.
The situation is much better today, all eyes are now on post-festive numbers,” said an official.
Dr.
Om Shrivastava, which is a member of the state government task force in Covid-19, said that even though the situation seemed to be controlled at this time, people need to follow the appropriate behavior of Covid.
