PALGHAR: A 31-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his wife to death because of suspicion that he was having an affair, in Palghar Maharashtra district, police said on Saturday.
Based on the tip-off, the police on Friday arrested Ramesh Mahatamo from the city of Gujarat Letter, said Senior Inspector Kailas Barve.
According to the police, the defendant allegedly strangled his wife Neelamdevi (27) to death using a cellphone charger on November 29 and escaped from home.
Police Tulinj sent the body to post-mortem and registered a violation below the IPC 302 section, the official said.
The defendant often quarreled with his wife suspecting his character, he said.
During the probe, the police received input about the existence of the defendant in Gujarat, after he was arrested, the official added.
