Nagpur: Naxals in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra using a drone to oversee the police movement, a senior official said on Friday.
Drones or unmanned air vehicles have been seen near armed posts and sub-police stations along the state border with Chhattisgarh in recent months, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Range of Gadchiroli) Sandip Patil.
The rebels used this device for supervision of the police movement, he said.
In the past two days, drones were seen in the Piplipata area in the Gondia and Venkarapur District in Gadchiroli Regency, he said.
The police took reply according to the operating procedure of the Standard of the Government of the Government (SOP) to handle the threat, the excavation said.
The drone used by Naxals is not a sophisticated machine but as used for video shooting in Weddings, Patil said.
According to probe preliminary, they are sourced from Hyderabad, he said.
