Thane: State Election Commission has mengoperan 47 of some wards panel to limit Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), with over 18.4 lakh eligible voters, civic officials said on Saturday.
Officials said the SEC has approved a plan to revise the figures TMC existing environment of 33 to 47 and direct the civic administration to now start to publish a revamped environmental limits and seek public opinion on the same.
While the 46 wards will have three members, Ward Number 44 will have four corporators.
The total number of representatives will be increased to 142 from 131 corporator elected the existing 10 seats will be reserved for candidates from scheduled castes and three of the scheduled tribe category.
A total of 64 seats of the general category and five from SC and two of ST have been reserved for women.
As planned, the revised ward boundaries map will soon be published by the administration on February 1 and will be inviting objections and suggestions from the public until February 14 after officers appointed will be heard on February 26 and filed a report to the second In March 2.
