Thane: One person died and seven others were injured after a land house plus-one collapsed in the Azmi Nagar area in Bhiwandi around 10am on Friday.
The deceased was identified only as a razak.
Officials said the man, between 35 and 40 years old, died in place.
Wounded people were identified as Eve Sheikh (35), Subeda Khatun (35), Amina Ansari (45), Roshan Bano (30), Zara Kalam (12), Fatima (14).
People who were injured were those who came shopping at the market under the collapsing structure.
They were treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
Three in critical conditions.
The house that collapsed was Shabbir Ansari.
Bhiwandi-Nizampura Municipal Corporation officials who reached the place they had found that Shabbir had committed illegal construction for a gallery of houses located in the market area.
Offically from Bhiwandi Fire Brigade, the police rescue team and disaster management came in place and began rescue operations.
The police have submitted a report on an unintentional death.
