Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has spent more than Rs 330 Crore to buy electricity from the open market to bridge the supply gap in demand caused by coal shortages.
Energy Minister Nitin Raut on Tuesday said the state faced a shortage of 3,500-4,000 MW of electricity, and blamed the “management error and lack of planning” in the Central Coal Central PSU Section Ltd.
