Nagpur: The Gadchiroli police have launched an effort to expose Maoists through comic strips, giving them the ‘Gadchiroli file’, to fight their propaganda network.
On Thursday, the first strip was released in Marathi and English apart from the local tribal language.
‘Gadchiroli file’, maybe the first comic strip launched by the police, will be used as a medium to spread various ideas that revolve around the land reality of the district dominated by the tribe.
Although the destructive and counter-productive maois violence is the first theme, comic routes will also have other problems from government policies, developments and challenges in the coming days.
In the first strip, a Maoist is shown approaching a school student, trying to lure him to join the rebel movement, which is a reality in the district in several remote parts.
After the students refused the offer, The Comic Strip showed rebels who set Zilla Parishad’s school caught fire, and threw grenades.
Maois is shown laughing loudly while holding movement with ‘Greetings Lal’, which is the way their signature greets each other.
A senior police officer said Maois was known to have a clandestine unit, such as ‘Balang Sangam’, which consisted of minors, which they saw as an effective courier or messenger than recruitment in the future.
SP Ankit Goyal said the comic strip would project the regency’s land reality, where maoist violence was just an integral part.
“Cartoon media is chosen because of its universal acceptance and clear character of appealing to all.
The subject will cover problems related to the district, which needs to be exposed to the whole world,” said Goyal, adding a comic strip to be released every two weeks.
Goyal said the police department had adopted various platforms for positive propaganda for public awareness through posters, banners, pamphlets and handbills for information dissemination, which will benefit the local population.
