Kalyan: A Shiv Sena-cum-developer of Kalyan, who recently bought Roll Royce worth Rs 8 Crore, has been ordered in the case of power theft of almost Rs 35,000.
FIR is registered with Sanjay Gaikwad by the Electricity Distribution Company of Maharashtra Ltd.
(MSEDCL) last week.
The source said that in March, a team, led by additional executive engineers MSEDCL Ashok Bundhe, examined the Gaikwad construction site in the Kolsebadi area in Kalyan (e) and found strength being stolen.
MSEDCL immediately sent a bill for RS 34,840 to Gaikwad and also imposed RS 15,000 penalty.
When Gaikwad failed to pay for three months, Bundhe filed a complaint at the Mahatma Phule police station last week.
Spokesman MSEDCL Vijaysingh Dudhbhate said after police stay FIR last week, Gaikwad, on Monday, paid a full amount of bill and penalty.
Furthermore Dudhbhate said that electricity theft attracted a maximum sentence of up to three years in prison or a fine, or both.
Gaikwad, however, issued a statement that claimed that the state power distribution company had filed a false complaint against it.
“If I have stolen electricity, then why is my meter on the site not deleted?” He asked.
