Mumbai: The state will introduce changes in the school curriculum in the environment from the next academic session.
The decision to participate in the new curriculum in class 1-8 will be taken by the Department of School Education.
The State Department on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education and Unicef ​​to the introduction of a new curriculum which included biodiversity conservation, solid waste management and individual health and communities, water resource management besides energy, air pollution and climate change.

In a tweet, Thackeray said, “The curriculum is developed with the help of UNICEF to create awareness of climate change and instill responsibility for our planet in elementary school education.
This course consists of activity-based lessons that go beyond class learning.”
The state government conducts tree plantation campaigns throughout the year and claims have planted 2.2 million trees.
