Nagpur: Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Police have arrested three people including two of Gujarat because of their alleged involvement in selling a small girl from the city for Rs 1 lakh.
The police said the trio allegedly lured the girl with the pretext of finding work for her.
The police also saved the 16-year-old girl.
The defendant who was arrested was identified as Vishakha Biswas (35, MIDC residents), Nikhil Patel (35) and Prakash Meghabhai Wankar (30), both residents of Arwali.
Police said Biswas came into contact with the girl in December last year.
When the girl came from a poor family and her parents worked in a private company in MIDC, Biswas allegedly promised to arrange work for her at a cloth shop in Gujarat.
He was then thought to take him to Gujarat and with the help of Nikhil Girl was sold to Prakash for a number of RS1 Lakh.
Then, Prakash married the girl, police said.
Meanwhile, the girl’s relatives filed a complaint lost with MIDC police.
The police registered the kidnapping case.
During the deep investigation that the girl had met Biswas.
The police detained Biswas who spilled beans.
