Nagpur: A 15-year-old girl and her lover, who was 10 years older than her, allegedly committed suicide by eating poison in a village in Nagpur Regency in Maharashtra, it seems to be their family against their plans to get married, said the police on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in Dumrikala Village in Parseoni Tehsil and their bodies recovered on Tuesday, they said.
“Sohan Devdhagle (26) and Anjali has established a relationship since the last year.
They want to get married, but their families oppose proposals,” said an official of the Parseoni police station.
Sohan’s parents and Anjali are farmers, he said.
On Sunday night, Sohan went to the girl’s house and told her mother that she wanted to marry Anjali.
However, his mother rejected the plan to say his daughter was still small, he said.
After that, Sohan returned home.
On Tuesday, when his parents went to their farm to work, Anjali came to his house in the afternoon.
They consumed poisons and locked themselves in the bathroom, the official said.
The incident was revealed when Mrs.
Sohan returned home later.
He found the bathroom door locked inside, followed what he called his neighbor.
The door was broken open and the Duo was found lying not move there.
They rushed to the hospital, where the doctor said they were taken dead.
The police suspected that the couple might commit suicide because their family did not support their marriage.
The accidental case of death was registered by the Parseoni police station.
