Thane: The old couple was stabbed to death by unknown people in their homes on a farm in the city of Ganeshpuri from the Thane Maharashtra district, police said on Saturday.
Jagannath Kalu (Balu) Patil (78) and his wife Satyabhama (70) was found brutally killed in their home in Pendhari on the outskirts of the city in the early hours of the morning, an official said.
The murder was revealed when the couple’s servant arrived to work around 7:30 and when no one answered the door despite his snapping, the door was broken and the duo was found lying in a pool of blood, he said.
According to the police, the murder may have taken place on Friday and Saturday intervention.
Some unknown people entered the house and stabbed the duo several times and killed them, the official said.
Violations below Section 302 (murder) IPC has been registered at the Ganeshpuri police station, and the body has been sent for post-Mortem, he said.
The police suspected that the property dispute might be a motive behind the murder, because there were no valuables stolen from the house, the official said.
According to the preliminary report, the television at home has been abandoned all night, and the couple may watch TV during murder.
Patil was defective and had lost his foot to Gangren, he said, adding that the gold ornaments in the woman who had died were intact, while objects had spread throughout the house.
