Gondia: A 60-year-old man was persecuted to death by sub-adult tigers in the Gondia Maharashtra District on Wednesday, said an official from the Ministry of Forestry.
The incident occurred when Puna Mohan Meshram, a resident of Bhadanga Village in Goregaon Tehsil, ventured to the forest to collect leaves for his livestock in the afternoon, the official said.
A forest guard was allegedly warned the victim about the presence of a big cat, but the latter had ignored the warning, he said the villagers immediately heard the roar of tigers and left for the armed forest.
They saw a tiger near the victim’s body in the number 448 compartment from the range of Goregaon forests, the official said.
The victim’s body finally recovered and sent to the hospital for Post-Mortem, he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Kulraj Forest Conservator Singh had told that the camera trap would be installed to track the movement of tigers, stated.
