Nagpur: The government plans to build a large bridge in Gundenur Nullah near Beagunda, which is part of the Kubu Maois Abujhmadh, where a pregnant woman died last year, could not cross Rivulet who overflowed in Monsoon.
There was also a proposal to build a 20 km road outside Gundenur Nullah until the border of Maharashtra, to connect the Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh in the future.
The proposed bridge and road, for which survey, will bring development to remote parts of unfriendly areas.
More than half a dozen tribal hamlets here were cut off from all districts during the rainy season, which led to many deaths without medical assistance and the essential commodity crisis as well.
This project is part of the four main and smaller bridges in South Gadchiroli which is affected by Maois who is approved for the development with the initiative of the Minister of Pemerat Minister of Road and Jalan Raya Nitin Gadkari.
The Highway Division of the Public Works Department (PWD) aims to complete the main bridge project on the Perimile River, Bandeya and Parlakota, at a cost of around RS175 Crore, with the next Monsun, along with 14 small bridges in various locations at a cost of around RS70 Crore.
The main bridge proposed in Chodampalli and those on the Dena River between Ashti and Alapalli will help maintain connectivity between Ashti and Alapalli around the year unlike now when cut for several days in the Monsun.
A road and two bridges in a 45km stretch between Ashti and Alapalli will be built on a budget of around RS500 Crore.
Construction works outside the Beagunda, which is considered a gateway to Abujhmadh, the maximum maximum location of Maois, their weapon training camp and manufacturing unit, is likely to be a challenge for government institutions.
The source said the survey team under senior officials had been firmly asked by Maoist representatives to drop the survey and leave the place.
Gadchiroli District collector Deepak Singla said the bridge in Gündenur would bring a lot of pauses to tribes that remained in stretches, which were helplessly cut off during the monsoon and also remained to lose development.
“We are in the process of building a large bridge in Chodampalli and also on the Dena River, which will help connectivity and rest during the Monsun,” he said.
“Detailed project reports are being prepared, which will be followed by the tender process,” he said.
Vivek Mishra’s executive engineer, who oversaw the project in South Gadchiroli, said the bridge and road would increase economic activities such as the development in Sironcha after the construction of the Kaleshwaram bridge.
SP Ankit Goyal said government institutions such as PWD and the Police Department will coordinate on security issues such as those carried out in development work.
“The standard operating procedure (SOP) will be followed and must be ensured the work is completed as soon as possible,” he said.
