THANE: Villagers assaulted a group of health workers who had been going about cities to spread consciousness of coronavirus one of tribals in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, authorities said on Wednesday.
The authorities have detained two individuals involved with the assault, though a manhunt was launched to nab others, Palghar authorities PRO Sachin Navadkar stated.
The incident happened on Monday, when a group of five employees from Durvesh main wellness center travelled to Ganje village to get a Covid-19 awareness programme,” the official stated.
The accused quit the team, such as physicians, from going into the village and then beat up them, he explained, adding the villagers also vandalised the group’s jeep.
An offence under part 353 (attack to deter a public servant from discharge of the duty) among other applicable terms of this IPC, Disaster Management Act and also Epidemic Act was registered against the accused,” he explained.
