PALGHAR: Authorities have detained a 35-year-old girl for allegedly forcing a teenaged woman in flesh trade in Maharashtra’s Palghar district,” an official said on Tuesday.
An NGO had complained to authorities that the girl, who was able to work at a pub in Valiv region, was intending to market the 16-year-old woman for Rs 4 lakh and push her to prostitution, he explained.
The police set a trap and caught the girl in a roadside eatery at Vasai place on Monday if she arrived there to attack the bargain, the officer said.
They rescued the woman and arrested the girl, ” he explained.
The accused has been booked under applicable parts of the Penal Code, the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
