Mumbai: About 2,000 house guards who escort the compartment of women from the local train at night have been withdrawn from assignments because countries are indebted to them.
When the train resume for those who are fully vaccinated from August 15 and the volume of passengers is expected to swell several folds, activists are afraid that women’s security will be in danger, as a result.
Police Railway Government (GRP), juggling several responsibilities with labor constraints, have started reviews to find out how many of their personnel are sick and how the customs can be allocated among others.
The female coach was escorted between 9pm and 6 in the morning.
Two housekeepers and police GRP were allocated per rake.
“After a woman was destroyed under the train while chasing a telephone robber in Kalwa in May 2021, we held a meeting with train officials and police.
Our request is to increase the timing of escort duties on a female coach.
But if the house keeper has been withdrawn, several women’s coaches It would be not disturbed.
It’s serious because female passengers will be vulnerable to robbery, “said Subhash Gupta activist from Rail Yatri Parishad.
For several years, home keepers were used as auxiliary force to support district police.
However, payments were not released for them in time and contributions began to accumulate.
Since July 2021, the house keeper has been withdrawn from the service on the train.
Toi reached out to the Director General (home keeper) additional Burde who said he did not want to comment.
Source said the state has released a number of funds, but the contribution is still surprising.
During a pandemic, serious crime in the women’s compartment was reported at night and early in the morning because of the many travelers.
In February, a 29-year-old woman went to meet her friend and ride local Andheri from Vasai.
A man followed him at 7:30 a.m., repeatedly attacked him on his face with an object, leaving a trail of blood, and escaping with the golden chain.
“Women’s security will always be our priority,” said a GRP senior officer.
Starting August 15, Tea Joint-MS from GRP and RPF will be one point in to the station and check the tourist track.
“We will not open other entries / exits for now because we don’t have enough personnel for them,” said an official.
Agency will also uphold the Covid protocol, such as wearing a mask.
