Bengaluru: The Mahindra India Group said on Wednesday it partnered with Jio-BP, a Reliance Industries joint venture Ltd and BP PLC, to explore the creation of products and services to strengthen the urge of the conglomerate electric vehicles.
Under a non-binding agreement, the company will evaluate charging technology and Jio-BP batteries for three-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, as well as a small commercial saying and vehicle.
Partnerships will also explore business models such as mobility as services and batteries as services to help accelerate the adoption of events in the country.
At present, EVS only makes a small portion of state car sales, especially because of high battery costs and lack of power filling infrastructure.
Jio-BP said in October that it had begun offering services for charging and exchanging batteries for electric vehicles in India.
Mahindra is also looking to improve EV business and has considered raising funds or carving it as a separate unit.
The company expects an electric vehicle to take into account around 20% of the volume in India in 2027.
