Kolkata: Trinamool Congress appointed former Chief of Cave Minister Luizinho Faleiro as a candidate for Rajya Sabha’s seat from Bengal left empty after Arpita Ghosh resignation almost two months ago.
TMC also assigned Mahua Moitra, MP Krishnanagar, to immediately take over the party’s goa unit.
Faleiro will submit a nomination of his RS on Tuesday and the election will be held on November 29.
Faleiro, Vice President of the All-India TMC, was the third candidate from outside Bengal after Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Sushmita Dev to receive a party ticket for Rajya Sabha.
“We are very happy to nominate Luizinho Faleiro to the House of Parliament.
We believe that his efforts to serve the nation will be widely valued by our people,” AITC tweeted.
The former former Seven-year-old Navelim Mla Faleiro was TMC’s face in Goa when the party made a robbery in the state after a victory echoed against Binjp in the Bengali poll.
With the TMC calculation in the Bengal Assembly up to 218, the Faleiro hallway to Rajya Sabha is just a formality.
In the midst of speculation that Faleiro’s nomination was “broad instructions” that the party might not projects it as a trinamool cm face in the Goa Assembly 2022 poll, the senior party places speculation to rest which said that Faleiro will also fight for the election of Goa.
Then, the Secretary General of the National Party Abhishek Banerjee issued a press release, which read that the Chairman of the Banerjee Mamata Party “looked forward to a brighter future for Goa, with all Trinamool Congress India opening the way with courage and wisdom”.
The release said Moitra was being appointed by the state-in-TMC unit with direct effects.
In a statement, Moitra thanked his party for that opportunity and said, “Hope to do his best.” Previously, Trinamool had made Dev part of the Tripura Party Committee, to the election of the Municipal Municipal company November 25.
