Saturday was running the legend of Milkha Singh, the birthday of 92.
The Champion Athlete, who died earlier this year, has become an inspiration for several generations of Indian runners.
So, it was right that Gurgaon’s first night running in the months was held to commemorate Milkha’s birthday.
The Flying Sikh Midnight Run was marked at midnight – November 20 – by Manbir Singh, DCP Manesar.
Run for four hours saw hundreds of athletes and fans who ran participated in all categories of distance 5K, 10K, 21K and 36K.
The runner stated the marathon in the middle of the night which was run – organized by Enviro along with Dhaavak – starting from the town square of Vatika in the 82 sector and it was concluded before the sun rises in the new Gurugram.
“We believe that small efforts like that are important to thank legendary athletes, whose life has become light guiding for generations, and continues to motivate us all to do more for the country, especially in the field of sports,” said LT Col Mehta, operation VP (Housing), Enviro.
Run promoted with the #MainbhimilKha tagline, urging the runners to absorb the same spirit and desire to run as a great Milkha Singh.
Manbir Singh, DCP Manesar runs the event – even late at night – has been common in the city of the millennium before the pandemic.
When they now restart, the community that is running says they have passionately waiting for them to return.
“It is good to have these events ultimately.
The absence of an event running in the city feels like a vacancy.
Plus, this is in the memory of a man who inspires us all, which makes it special,” The runner said that it was “good to have this event finally”
