Udhagamandalam: Forest Minister K Ramachandran on Wednesday visited Elephant Rivaldo, which was put in Kraal at the VazhaHothhottam checkpoint.
“The Eight Member Experts Committee, arranged to decide the fate of the elephant, will prepare a report after checking it.
We will receive a call later,” said Minister and hinted that it could be shifted to the elephant camp.
With the activists of the rights of animals and politicians calling for the release of elephants and Madras High Court directing the Ministry of Forestry not to keep the detention after treatment, residents of Vazhithttam and Masinagudi in the MTR buffer zone want the animal to be stored in captivity.
Activists of Rights and MP BJP Manka Gandhi have called for Rivaldo’s release.
On Monday, BJP Mla Vanathi Srinivasan asked the head of Minister M K Stalin to release him.
Crevaldo was guided to Kraal on May 5 by forest officials for treatment.
The elephant wandered around the Vazhaitthttam and Mavanallah area in Masinagudi Pancrayat for the past six years.
“We want the district administration to take elephants to camps in Thpakadu in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.
Even though the elephant did not kill humans, it damaged a compound wall in the Vazhaitthtam and Mavanallh area and damaged plants,” Abbas said, representing the residents of Vazhaithtam.
“It will visit small shops in the area for food and do not want to move from the place for hours together.
The people who ask the elephant release must know the reality of the land.” “We want Rivaldo to be taken to the camp so it will be a concern and Food, “Kanasma said, another resident.
“If the elephant is released, it will not be able to survive.” A mahout and two assistants are training animals, the field director of ATR K Kaushal.
