New Delhi: Major Delhi Timur Shyam Sundarwal on Tuesday said he had ordered a sealing of the denim washing unit in Sadatpur after the local population accused the violation of the norms in carrying out the “health hazard” in the area.
He made a decision after visiting the area with local MLA and board members and interacted with members of the Resident Welfare Association, officials said.
“I checked the Sadatpur area where this Jeans washing plant was.
Rwa members complained that some acidic chemicals were used by him, and I saw dark waste in drainage too.
The locals also accused that it spread cancer in the area,” said Mayor.
So, it has been decided to “seal plants” in the interest of the health of the local community, he said.
Ask, if he visits the unit or meets anyone from him, Aggarwal said, “No.
I can get out of conditions in and around and the chemical acid is not supposed to be used in residential areas, but only in the designated area after the maturity of permission.” First, Challan will be issued and then the notification will be sent to the factory owner in the sealing order, he said.
“If they empty the unit in the specified time, the plant will not be sealed,” he added.
