Amravati: A big fire broke out in a chemical factory at MIDC in Badnera Mini Bypass Road at The Wee Hour on Saturday, causing substantial damage to the machine and property.
The cause of the fire cannot be ascertained, but the sources say short circuit might be the reason behind it.
There were no casualties reported in the incident.
It took about seven hours for 11 tenders of fire from Amravati Municipal Corporation and other city councils to extinguish the fire.
The national pesticides and chemicals are burning around 2am.
Smoke can be seen from 2km, said Saksises.
The factory building has developed a gap because of a fire and the possibility of collapsing is being expressed.
Fortunately, oxygen plants close to the factory are not touched by fire.
Guardian Minister Yashomati Thakur, Mayor of Chetan Gawande, Collector Paweet Kaur and Commissioner of Prashant Rode City rushed to place after getting information.
Thakur has booked a fire audit of all important buildings on the war footing.
The factory produces chemicals needed for agriculture.
About 100 people worked here between 9:30 a.m.
and 6.30 a.m.
On Friday, the factory closed around 7pm.
