Chennai: The Division of the South Railway Chennai has begun carrying cement from Melpakkam in the Tiruvallur district after an eight-year gap, as part of a marketing drive launched to encourage the industry to transport goods.
Train goods consisting of 21 Minirake BCN transported 1,377 tons of cement to Salem Junction on Thursday.
This has brought RS 6 Lakh’s revenue.
Four minirake loading is expected per month.
